Starting point

The website has to reach customers in Germany in four languages and be found on Google. Many small business websites load slowly on smartphones because they are built with heavy page builders, lots of plugins and large images. We wanted to show that it can be done differently – on our own website.

What we did

  • Lightweight custom theme instead of a page builder: all JavaScript on the home page is 4 KB, styles are inlined into the page
  • No external services on load: no third-party fonts, videos or tracking scripts – which also helps with data protection
  • Images in WebP format at the right size, lower sections load only when scrolling
  • No jumping page: space for animated elements is reserved in advance
  • Proper caching: pages always up to date, images and styles cached for a year, delivered via CDN
  • Technical SEO: four language versions with hreflang, XML sitemap with 352 URLs, short page titles, alt texts for 196 images, schema.org markup

Why it matters for Google

Google uses loading speed and Core Web Vitals as one of its ranking factors. A fast website alone does not guarantee top positions, but it never holds good content back: fewer visitors leave, and Google can crawl the pages faster. This is exactly how we build websites for clients.
